MODULE AG-WT

Water Quality & Treatment

Module Water Quality & Treatment

Water analysis and water treatment are inseparably linked in practice.

First, the raw water is analyzed to determine its quality. Based on the results, the appropriate treatment method is selected, implemented, and the outcome is verified at the end. This creates a closed loop.

Learners immediately understand the purpose of the analysis (for example: “Why do we measure nitrate, salts, heavy metals or pesticides?” → “Because it decides whether we need Reverse Osmosis (RO)”).

This makes learning much more practical and motivating.

The module is divided into two main parts.

Water Analysis (Fundamentals + Methods)

-> Fundamentals of water quality and sampling techniques

-> Microbiological analysis (E. coli, coliforms, enterococci)

-> Chemical parameters (nitrate, nitrite, ammonium, heavy metals)

-> Physical parameters (turbidity, pH value, conductivity, temperature)

-> Comparison of different testing methods (field kits vs. laboratory)

-> Interpretation of analysis results and limit values (WHO standards)

-> Multi-stage filtration technology (gravel, sand, activated carbon adsorption)

-> Natural and chemical coagulation (including Moringa oleifera)

-> Disinfection methods (chlorination, UV disinfection, SODIS)

-> Prevention of re-contamination and storage hygiene

-> Fundamentals of HACCP principles for water treatment systems

Water Treatment (Technology + Systems)

-> Water source (borehole, well or surface water)

-> Pre-filter and sedimentation systems

-> Multi-stage treatment plants (sand/gravel filter + activated carbon)

-> Advanced filtration systems (ceramic filters, membrane technology, reverse osmosis)

-> Disinfection systems (chlorine dosing station, UV systems)

-> Storage systems with two-chamber principle and re-contamination protection

-> Pumping and distribution networks

-> Automatic control and monitoring systems (pH, turbidity, residual chlorine, conductivity)

-> Flow meters, pressure gauges and sensors

-> Backflow preventers and safety fittings

-> Complete quality control laboratory equipment

Due to the highly individual nature of this module and the specific requirements of each project, DMH only prepares a customised offer after personal consultation.
